The ozone layer is not visible because it is made of oxygen, an extremely small isotope. Ozone is merely a form of oxygen which has three isotopes. More info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone

ozone(02) layer is obviously composed of oxygen atoms making it invisible because it's a gas..
