In the Town of Babylon, when voting for District Court Judge, the voting ballot stating vote for 2, there were only 2 candidates running. The political parties, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Working Families, all put the same person on the ballot. Therefore, as residents of the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County we do not have the right to vote for different people. Only two (2) people ran, and the ballot said vote for 2. Is anyone concerned? Why isn't the news picking up this story? Is this the end of our democratic society in Suffolk County? Aren't we in effect letting the few (the political parties) chose the one that holds an important and influential political office?

district judicial elections in NY state have a long history of this sort of rigging. This is not new by a long shot.

the idea was to keep the politics out of a state judicial race, but the end result is a sham. There was a Westchester attorney fighting this about 15-20 years ago; this cabal of quasi-elected judges had this laywer disbarred for no reason.

until the people en masse challenge the party bosses of all parties, nothing is gonig to change.

I used to live in Suffolk County, LI and the political corruption there was astonishing. It always left us with a feeling of disgust & helplessness. We couldn't fight it, so we finally moved away. Unfortunatelly, 2 of our married children still live there.
