F.B.I. Says Guards Killed 14 Iraqis Without Cause

Federal agents investigating the Sept. 16 episode in which Blackwater security personnel shot and killed 17 Iraqi civilians have found that at least 14 of the shootings were unjustified and violated deadly-force rules in effect for security contractors in Iraq, according to civilian and military officials briefed on the case.

A separate military review of the Sept. 16 shootings concluded that all of the killings were unjustified and potentially criminal. One of the military investigators said the F.B.I. was being generous to Blackwater in characterizing any of the killings as justifiable.

But nearly 11 months later, no charges have been brought, and officials said a number of theories had been debated among prosecutors in Washington and Seattle without a resolution of how to proceed in the case.

Finding Lawlessness in Iraq is like finding a needle in a hundred square miles of Texas Prickly Pear.

The Iraqi's have focused on just a few to stop some of the worst of it, but the problem is far beyond the ability of anyone to even document more than a very small part of it.

And if that isn't enough, we (you and I, the American taxpayers, the ones who Bush and his fellow "conservatives" say can't afford health insurance for American children) . . . we are paying Blackwater and other "mercenary corporations" $1,200 PER MAN PER DAY to be in Iraq and commit these atrocities.
It's enough to make you curious as to the meaning of the word "conservative."

They have hired mercenaries and given them immunity. It is sad. Having to hire mercenaries to fight your battles for you is a sign of a declining empire. We should give up our empire. We dont need military bases in over 130 countries.

I've never been ashamed of my country until we started this illegal war. Bush has violated all the tenants of what our country was founded on. He has squandered our good name and any goodwill the world once felt towards us.
