Overvaluing money, at the expense of love, family, friends, being of good character, and living a good life, can cause great pain. It is a pain that comes from a sense of emptiness, of having "everything" but nothing at all. At least nothing worthwhile.

Undervaluing money is a problem too. There is nothing holy or redemptive about poverty.

In my experience, and in my research, I have seen that the people who are the most happy are those who have a healthy relationship with money and, more importantly, with life. They neither overvalue nor undervalue money. They are financially serene, if not secure. They are balanced. They feel no lasting sense of lack. They do not feel enslaved to money and materialism.

Prosperity means different things to different people, depending on what they value. In my case, I am doing a little more than ok financially. I don't think I will ever be rich, but I am living a miraculously rich life, thank God. I may not have everything I desire, but when I look at my life all I can feel is gratitude. I have known poverty, but I for one am a prime example that anything is possible. Changing our financial situation starts with changing our minds about money and getting clear about what is most important in this life.

The Bible says it best I think: "You cannot serve God and money (mammon)" and "Love of money is the root of all evil."

I have been so poor the bank took my house. I went bankrupt and lost everything but the one thing nobody could take away, my wife. I have never been rich, but well off, in terms of money and my wife was still there.

Being Rich has nothing to do with money at all. It is all about love and friendship. Without either of these things you be nothing. I, myself, lack many things, including my own jet, a Rolls Royce, and a Sony Play Station. Those are wants. I have the love of my family, the love of my friends, and the understanding of those who know me. Those are needs. The more needs you have fulfilled the better off you will ever be. The more wants you have the sadder you will be because those wants can never be fulfilled.

I think at least some of the rich do not cry but only because they have learned that sometimes you can't have it all and they have accepted that. A man, or woman as well, may want to live in Florida and want to ski and play in the snow and it is when he learns he can not do both he finds the happiness and joy in one or the other.

how come when you put a Dorito and a piece of chewed bubble gum on the kitchen counter the Dorito gets chewy and the gum gets crunchy?

everything works its way back the middle.
