Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) can be new or used vegetable oil (WVO) that is cleaned.

An engine running on SVO is quieter but only produces 96% of the power of diesel. It is more efficient than biodiesel. It burns well in some diesel engines, but due to its high viscosity, it can lead to poor atomisation of a fuel and accumulation of fuel in the lubricating oil.

The veg oil would not start the engine cold...it needs to be heated to lower the viscosity. Cars the burn veg oil or SVO (straight vegetable oil) have to be modified with a system to heat the oil. Vegetable oil that has been converted to biodiesel can be run in any diesel engine without any modification at all>

Maybe you would have got a small distance very slowly
in the old diesel engine, but todays fine tuned turbo injected hi~tech diesel engine it would probably make it grind to a halt and set it on fire
