"Santas warned 'ho ho ho' offensive to women"

"SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute."

Ok folks, that's a quote from Yahoo News. What do you think about this?

Well political correctness has sunk to a new "lo lo lo".

Gay doesn't mean happy anymore, and now "ho" is an ebonic slur.

Makes you wish for the "good ole days", doesn't it?

If santa saying ho ho ho offends women does it offend them also when gardener's use a hoe? This is ridiculous. I heard several years back about a guy trying to get the word hello changed to 'heaveno' since it had the world hell in it. I wanted to say to him, what about helicopter, helmet, etc? Those are pronounced with the hell sound. What should ho ho ho be offensive? Yes I've heard it used offensivley as a punch line in a joke before but the true meaning of ho ho ho does not change because of one joke...

Yes I know the article is from AU but it's USA that uses the term 'ho' to describe a 'lady of the night' nobody else ... what other crazy thing can American's do to the rest of the world? Soon they will have us believe Iraq was involved in 9/11!

WHAT????????? Our Santa always says, "ho ho ho" and I hope he doesn't stop. It's in the stories we read to our kids. "Ho ho ho and to all a goodnight"

Final note: We that say Ho Ho Ho know it's true meaning. It's all in the spirit of Christmas. I think this is going a bit too far.

Oh get serious!!! I mean if you're offended by Santa saying ho ho ho well chances are you might want to check yourself because you probably are a ho.

I seriously hope this is a bad joke because that is PC taken to the extreme.

I'm usually in favor of political correctness: after all, it usually means just trying not to offend someone based on their race, religion, or gender (not that I never offend people). But this is ridiculous. And quit blaming America for this one. It's Australia.
Ho,Ho,Ho???? Most of the girls who sit on Santa's lap are under 8 years old. And the "Ho" is usually only an accurate description for most of the girls over 14 today.

People will find pretty much anything offensive now adays.
Its kind of stupid if you ask me.
Its what has been said by Santa, time and time again and it shouldn't change.
It doesn't offend me and im a woman, it is Santa Claus for gosh sake, if it was some random guy or something then yeah.

'Ho' is only used in the US to describe a prostitute! Not in any other country. I dont understand why the Aussies are trying to be so PC about a slang word in another country

There is this one episode of "The Office" where one goes into a room and there are three women and one man...and he goes: Ho, Ho, Ho...Pimp!
Random yes but:

Ban it all! Im tired of Santa...Using bribes to lure children into believing in a fictionally created character or "god".
