I started taking Yasmin for period pains (of the excruciating kind) and it's working beautifully, however, I want to know if Yasminelle would work just as well. The reason is that I'm getting quite a bit of bloating with Yasmin, and I also like the idea of using a lower dose of hormones. However, my gynaecologist said Yasminelle might not work because it has such a low dose of hormones that it's not enough for my size (I'm 5'5" and weigh 54kg).

Any personal experiences?

Thanks! :)

I had terrible period pains, and I'm on YAZ. Yasminelle didn't work for me at all! I was just as miserable!

I've never heard of Yasminelle. I'm on Yaz (strictly for PMDD), and I know it's NOT the same thing as Yasminelle.

You could always try it, give it at least 3 months. But if your gyn said that it might not work for you, then it would be pointless. There are so many other different pills out there. Yaz is a low dose hormone pill as well, and I did find that it works rather well for my cramping. Ask your gyn about Yaz. :)

I have not used Yasminelle but have used Yasmin and had problems with that medication.

But I have heard good experiences from some women who did Yaz (I think this is another name for Yasminelle).

I have been on lower dose birth control pills in the past that are like Yasminelle as far as dosaging and found I had more problems with bleeding on them and then when I went back to a higher dose estrogen content pill I was fine.

I have the link to a site that might be able to give you even more information. It's at: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health

Although your doctor might be rigth, the only way of knowing for sure is trying. In this case there really is no harm in trying, both are excellent and reliable products. Talk to your doctor that you would like to give it a try.
