My friend really creeped me out the other day. Its nice to be complimented on being a good person don't get me wrong but a sincere thanks is good enough. I hadn't done anything to need complimenting on, they came from nowhere and went on for about 20mins I was feeling quite uncomfortable. Was It silly of me to feel like that or would anyone feel like that?

Hmm. I've probably over-complimented one friend (I don't know that she still is a "friend," but that's a different story). I wonder if she felt the way you do. But anyway, being in your "creepy friend's" shoes, I can tell you...she really likes you. Either she's really grateful for you or she has a crush on you (or both). I wouldn't take it badly. So she really likes you! You may feel like you don't deserve the praise, but she does, so why deny it?

How well do you know your friend? If you know your friend very well, then somehow you can decipher if its a sincere compliment or just flattery.

Benefit of the doubt that your friend admires you or she has high regard for you that - insignificant things mean bigger than what they really seem. If it makes you uncomfortable, then tell her about it. Only she can clarify things.

Another thought: maybe she needs to ask a big favor from you that she couldn't directly ask you. She opted to set you in a "good mood" (unknowing that her compliments were bothersome to you) so she can somehow ask you for something.

It was not silly at all. I also get the creeps when they are too complimentary. It really seems dishonest.

Soon they will start dressing like you, and try to steal your partner.

It makes me wonder what their real motives are.
