My life is simple, but I could hardly call it uninteresting. I marry, work and have children just like anyone else, but there was not one single moment in my whole life that I’d rather not have happened. But then I may write a book about my life and pour in every single bit of my feelings in it and yet there are bound to be others who wouldn’t even scan through. Because like everything else in this world; it all depends on the different perceptions attached to it.

Does it truly matter if our own lives seems interesting or otherwise to the eyes of others? I believe we all have the right to live life as we prefer it, in simplicity or in complexity. As long as we are happy, there is absolutely no need for the affirmation from others to convince ourselves it is interesting or otherwise. Psychic Cat said it well; the word “interesting” is but a label.

Want to know why then, the grass on the other side of the fence often seems greener? It is so precisely because we view it from our perspective on our side of the fence. Look closer. You’ll see how it too, has an undergrowth of weeds and hidden insect mounds. You only see the green turf from afar. But like our own grass, it too, has its share of problems or mundaneness.

I'm just saying that life is simply however you make it. If you don't like how it is going at the moment, you can always find ways to change that. Your grass does not always have to be the greenest in the neighborhood. Just make it your own shade of green; you'll be much happier....

An interesting life is Simple if lived with complications

A complicated life is always interesting

Complicated

Wouldn't that depend on the subjective definition of "interesting"?
A complicated life often is perceived, vicariously, as interesting, & the simple, (totally misunderstood) as mundane.
Actually, I believe that "interesting" has nothing to do with how one enjoys one's own life. It's only a label.

'Interesting' for whom? The one leading or the ones watching?
Many who lead simple life achieve much but they may not have many 'quotable quotes' for the press or the media, so the others may perceive them as leading dull lives. On the other hand, someone embroiled in one controversy or the other is seen by masses as leading a interesting/colourful life...

Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi, lived frugally, wore only a loin-cloth, lived in simple dwelling, Yet his achievements made his life 'interesting'. Mother Teresa is another example that comes to mind. Lived among destitudes without material comforts...Simple life can be interesting one.

I think the 'purpose' of our life makes it 'interesting' or 'mundane'....not whether we took a straight path or wandered about in a maze.

"Interesting" or "fulfilling" life? To whom? What is simplicity? I knew a man so isolated from complexities, people thought of him as a hermit. He had a beautiful life. Complicated can be a challenge, or simply a ride on the Ferris wheel. This is so subjective, there's no philosophical answer. You think??

The joy you get from life makes it interesting, it may be either simple or complicated. The point is how you see it and enjoy it. Yes it is Difficult to be simple but it is simple to be complicated.

For the person living it, it can be either. If he/she is deeply interested in studying butterflys, he/she might live a simple life (or not.)
But if you the questioner is choosing someone as having an "interesting" life, you must take it with ou without complication.

At 77 now, give me Please, the simple life. ~~~~~

I for one wanted to lead a SIMPLE life. Because of wars, circumstances & choices from the day I was born, it has been anything but SIMPLE.

I would say that the COMPLICATED life is the most interesting . However mine is one, I would not want to relive.
Good thought provoking answer Banshee ~~
