The second most expensive taxi I've ever caught was in Prague, the most in Paris. Avoid Czech taxis like the plague. The reason they are so expensive is they have to pay protection money to operate to the mafia.
If you have to get one book it from an office and ensure you agree the price beforehand.
There is a bus from the airport which will take you to the centre of prague, if in doubt ask at the information desk.
The Metro (undrground train) is great for getting about when you are in the city.
Make sure you czech out the castle on the hill (tube stop Malostranska I think).
Also don't be afraid of the local grub, it's wonderful and seved in most of the brilliant pubs.
Me and the missus went last winter and it was brilliant, I'm jealous of you.

Ask your hotel to book a car and driver for you, it's very common practice, because the taxi drivers in Prague are notorious for fleecing foreign tourists.
Get a 1, 2 or 3 day pass for the public transport system, it's very cheap and very easy to use, and you can use this on all the trams and the metro.

don't take a taxi, it's a rip off!!!
take a bus from the airport ( there's only one leaving) get off at the last stop and take a metro from there, I'd say you are at W. square in 30 minutes and it will cost you 20 crowns, for a cab you pay at least 1.000
I know I live here
Have fun at the market!

I got a taxi and it costs around £20. I also got the bus one time. Takes about an hour and it costs about £5.
