After reinstalling a clean windows XP SP2 , my Acer ASpire 4710 is giving problem again. The same situation . Windows freeze on shutting down. WHat can be the REAL problem ? HARDWARE or SOFTWARE ..

Normally it is caused by software. There is a process that won't terminate. On ocassion it can be caused by the video driver. Have you loaded anything that did not come with the unit?

I agree with Laid Back on this one. I had one computer that did that and it turned out the video card had the wrong chip set in it and it wasn't clearing fast enough as the computer shut down. But to be sure I would take anything except the OS out and try it and see what it does. If it works ok, then add your apps back one at a time until it starts locking up again.
