Just bought some piranhas and wanted to feed them live fish every now and then. Since I've read that feeder fish causes too much problems, what kind of fish can I feed them to be safe. Is there any cheap out there that's not feeder fish. thanks

Be careful they will eat each other if hungry or if one gets an injury. When feeding, they are super fast. Never put any of you into water, even a finger tip. Or you might be for dinner!

Ignore what others have posted, but yes they will eat each other if one piranha has a open wound. Now to answer your question, piranhas don't just eat meat their main diet is meat but I will talk about this later. The best and safest meat you can feed your piranhas is beef heart from your local grocery store and its cheap. Just cut it in small little cubes enough for one feeding and freeze the remaining beef heart. You can also feed them fresh/frozen shrimp or any type of fresh fish from your grocery store. Remember to cut the meat in small pieces, so they don't make a mess when consuming their food. Small tiny left over meat can cause problems to the water. Don't feed them mice, that will just cause more problems in the water from the blood and uneaten left over mice. This will cause bateria to grow in the tank which can kill your fish. Remember that in the wild where they live, their water is open and always constantly circulating and flowing and other creatures/animals will finish off any uneaten left over prey. Other foods you can feed your piranhas is red grapes. In the wild they eat fallen berries. Feed them twice a week and remove any uneaten grapes.

Seeming as how that piranha's have not discovered the thank you to make hearth in the wild, the respond of direction could be no. could I propose feeding them some thing much less messy? you are able to feed them commercially available carnivore fish nutrients, which has all nutrients a starting to be fish desires. it particularly is made to no longer foul up the water as nicely as does not scent up the water the two as much as pork hearts. attempt to no longer create greater artwork for your self. inspite of the reality that I could admit, observing a fish consume a hunk of meat is cool.

Remember that they eat meat? Pick any meat. I don't know the state of your aquarium and/or how it can take oils but you can feed them steak, pork....etc
I used to feed mine mice andwhen they got bigger - gerbils. Again, every tank is different and you'll have to see how your tank adapts to fur and stuff.
