how would the war against terrorism be like for USA if Russia starts arming and supporting AL qaeda and Taliban to the same extend as USA and its allies helped them to fight soviet union in Afghanistan during the cold war? terrorists may think that they with the help of Allah defeated the soviets but we know better , don't we?

It is amazing how so many Americans believe that we can overcome any military obstacle, that we are superior to all, beholden to none, and will emerge victorious no matter what the odds.

Our resources are depleted. We depend upon other countries for our fuel. It takes an amazing amount of fuel to run a war. Now, I am sure Bush has stocked away enough that he feels he can invade Iran, plus he has control of the huge Iraqi fields. But Iran also has plentiful oil and, if Russia moves in...perhaps bringing China along, because both purchase Iranian oil....we may be in a bucketload of trouble.

We have become a debtor nation, so indebted that we have sold off our port security, our toll roads, our airplane security, and Heaven knows what else. Our National Debt is already so high it's like an out-of-control kite, and we depend upon other countries for everything from food to toasters.

What country do we borrow from to run a war? You, with your precious tax cuts, how much will you give for a long, drawn-out session in Iran? What do we do with the money we already owe China, pay it with our sinking nonexistent dollars?

Again you have to stop this believe that these terrorist only believe in Allah as the main source of their victory. If this was the case they would not be carrying around kolishnikovs and bombs. The reason why they carry these weapons is because they also understand logic, strategy, and the efficiency of human thinking. They are aware of the worldy advantage of financial and military support that could win them victories like what they got from America.

Now regarding Russia. If they were to start using Al Qaeda and Taliban to go against us I wouldn't be suprised. Have you heard of the saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"? Our government has a long and running history of turning on and off support for various terrorist organizations around the world all disguised in and under the flag of democracy. If Russia rises to power or even China, I doubt it they will be as beligerent as our government is around the world. I think they will just be an equilibrium.

That's what wars are all about ?! Five permanent members of UN, China, USA, Russia, France and UK, sell more arms than all other arm dealers ??!! Wars are the Elites games to profit Billions, they finance and arm both sides to their teeth, and at the end , every body loses except them !!??
It's a tragedy , it's horror !?

Best Regards.

If the Russians presented al-Qaeda to the same quantity we supported the insurgents in Afghanistan, the memories might have comparable endings. We presented the Mujahedin with intel, weapons, and experienced their combatants. In Iraq, the insurgents have Russian weapons, yet so does 3/4 of the international. you may no longer swing a ineffective cat interior the third international and not hit somebody retaining an AK-40 seven. i think of our strategies are superior to those utilized by using the Soviets interior the '70s in Afghanistan, so in that know we would fare greater helpful. yet, interior the tip, i think of if the Russians presented, funded, and experienced our combatants (in the two countries) we would have a plenty greater durable time there.

Kind of like the way the Soviets armed the Vietnamese....it is difficult to look into the crystal ball and say hey this could come back and bite us in the behind....

Iran does it even as we speak.
Of course it would make things more difficult, but thanks to the developments of surveillance equipment, not impossible to overcome.
Please remember that the US support of the Afghan resistance was nothing when compared to the Russian support of VietCong/NVA invasion of Vietnam, their support to North Korea or the USSR/Cuban sponsored "insurgencies" in Africa, Asia and the Americas
