I am almost a 180 of what I used to be. I used to work in fancy offices, wear fancy clothes, eat expensive food, and loved ornate things. Now at 38 I'm completely different. I love simple Shaker furniture, rustic settings, and log homes, solid colored dishes in place of fru-fru flowery china, and I work at home. In my sweatpants.
What changed me? Watching people around me, reading books, paying attention to world changes, wishing to be self-sufficient and healthy, and COMFORTABLE! And, raising children will always change your outlook on things, like... what really matters, here?
What does it take? Life. I would say it's usually a process of self-discovery, and the good and not-so-good things that happen to you. A tragic even could cause an immediate change, or even a wonderful event could cause a sudden change in character (e.g. winning the lottery, if you play it). Part of it is perhaps your personality-- how you react to things. My mom is high strung, and I'm laid back, so the same event could cause a great change in her character and not affect mine much.
I love my life now. It feels real. :-)

The only way anyone can change aspects of their character is to change their thinking. It takes changing ones thoughts to change ones life. You don't sit and wait and see and then eventually will suddenly change. You make your own changes by your own choices. That is what it takes. Sometimes you can make a choice to change and you will be able to change immediately. Other times it could take a while to get into the habit of thinking in a more positive way.
That is the only way to change. You cannot expect to have a good life if you think mostly negatively. But you can have a good life if you make the decision to MAKE A GOOD LIFE FOR YOURSELF.

Yes, I do believe this is possible and it would depend on the person's reasons and willingness to change.
If someone is always negative, this is something that could be considered part of their character, however by good things happening to them doesn't mean they will change, but their willingness to accept whatever life throws their way with a good attitude and not go out of their way to bring others down, THIS is a change in character. Something like this might take a while because the person is so used to being this way, but if they have the willingness to change they will see it through.

This is an interesting question indeed.
I always wondered if character can change. Especially men. so they are two domains of changing. The first one is his good and bad sides, his moral values those hardly change. If your partner for example wants to spend more money than you do than those things you can hardly change.
However there is a hope. usually man says I'm like this you can't change my attitude...or habits...yes some of his habits by the time goes you can change...or better after a while he will realize that certain things should not do...like part of a growing process...
I hope I answered your question.
Have a nice day Ele!

For immediate change:
A very very very very tragic or "BIG" event or moment should happen to him/her.
Example:
The person is selfish and prideful then suddenly, he lost everything and can't turn to anybody. A very generous person takes good care of this selfish person so in the end the selfish person regrets being selfish and helps other people too -if he has morals-.
[This will change him somehow.]
Long process:
Just wait till you see the answer for immediate change. xDDD!

character does change eventually, as we grow, our character also grows, as we see more life, more reality, experience new things, our characters also tries and adapts to this, sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse.I think character depends with our company, the kind of people we surround ourselfs with, the books we read, character determines us, i think as we grow so does our character, its eventual process

Sometimes they change their actions, or their way of behaving, or they might change the way they interact with you. But deep down inside, their character never changes......
