and why should the British taxpayer pay for it, after all if he and his wife hadn't left their little babies alone night after night to go out drinking this would never have happened. I can't remember another case where the main suspects of a terrible crime were given police protection when they went to work. Does he have his police bodyguards the rest of the time as well or just for work. My question is this, Are you happy that your taxes are paying for the police protection of an acknowledged child neglector and conman who uses his daughters fund money to pay off his mortgage?

Hi, well you have quite a few good answers on this question.. most of the pros are letting their side down with their typical insults.. and then they call the anti 's sheep.. it's good for a laugh though.. I love the way they can call you an idiot .... have they heard what happened on that night??? I would call that idiotic ...not people asking questions about a highly suspicious case.. how anybody can defend this couple is beyond me... but of course it was only a 'mistake' or to use the McCanns words ..naivety...
Imagine going into your doctors surgery this time last year and asked her opinion on the very same scenario... excuse me Dr.McCann do you think it would be perfectly safe to leave 3 babies asleep all alone while me and my mates go to the pub for a few hours.... oh and i won't lock the apartment in case of a fire.... Does anyone imagine Dr. McCann would of said 'yeah that's fine, i do it all the time....' A mistake???? nah, it was a calculated risk with the odds stacked against them.. sorry rant over...
and in answer to your question ...It is a disgrace that taxpayers money is being used to keep him safe at work!!!

whilst is this boastful guy going to understand that they are actually not sitting around a table enjoying at Cluedo, they're actual in an particularly severe situation of being suspects in a available homicide case .that's a fact .What does he think of provides him the acceptable to maintain on behaving as he does ie thinking among different issues that they are above the regulation and could be secure not in basic terms by utilising intense powered legal experts and this government yet now he thinks he ought to get police secure practices so as that he can return to artwork. they must be thinking themselves very ,very fortunate that they are actually not in the back of bars in a Portuguese penitentiary.

Well, if someone attacked him and he died, we'd never know whether or not he murdered Madeleine and if he did, he would not be punished.

I agree, terrible waste of money, had they not left their children alone, they would not be in this whole sorry situation.

You can't remember a case where suspects got police protection?
What about Maxine Carr? Are you happy your taxes were used to pay for her new identity and rehabilitation? After all she wasn't just a suspect -she was actually found guilty of being accessory after the fact of a double child murder.

Here's a thought -why don't you refrain from stirring up hatred against the McCanns?
If people stopped inciting and encouraging this sort of lynch-mob mentality there would be no need for any police protection.

I'm perfectly happy for my taxes to be used to protect Gerry McCann and all other suspects who might be at risk from attack.
I'm not "happy" about it, but I do accept the need for people like Maxine Carr to be given a new identity, because it's the lesser of two evils.
It's all part of living in a civilised society - a concept that seems lost on some people.

He pays taxes too and he has gone back to work so that he doesn't have to use the fund to pay his mortgage again. When the fund was set up, it was set up support the family and help meet any financial needs they had while they were searching for Maddy. Everybody who contributed to the fund knew this and they have only turned because they are following mob mentality.

Perhaps he needs police protectino to ensure that brutal verbal attacks such as the one you have just launched don't go any further

You're right, the taxpayer shouldn't be paying for protection. And if he and his wife hadn't conned the british public into sympathising with them and giving them money, which they later spent on themselves, then he wouldn't need protection. I for one never bought any of the lies being told over the madelaine thing, all the crocodile tears, all the appeals to find her, when all along theres cover ups and lies being told, the McCanns know a lot more than they're letting on, whether they've killed her or someone has snatched her to blackmail them, they had no right to play with peoples emotions like that, and that is why people are now angry with them, and thats why he needs protection, but I think that should be at the McCanns expense, not the taxpayer, the McCanns have taken the British public for a ride quite enough!

P.S I Know I will end up with about 200 'thumbs down', but frankly I couldn't give a flying f*ck! That is my opinion on the subject, and if you don't like it, TOUGH! Be sheep if you want to, but I'm not one!

Im not blindly pro or anti but I do have an opinion and that is that the case stinks. and no Im not happy that taxes are being used for protection or fund money is used for mortgage payments I just hope it doesnt take like 16 years before they are convicted

People like you disgust me. Acknowledged child neglector? Conman? Where has this been reported? In your own little warped mind? You clearly have nothing else better to do with your time than to think up the most ridiculous questions, and judging by your question history, the McCanns revolve around every question you ask. Why?
The security is in place to protect Mr McCann from people like you in society. And yes, I am happy that my taxes are being put to use protecting a man from vile and vicious people like yourself. His daughter is missing, she may never be found, so why don't you just leave this subject alone and let him and his family grieve in peace?

No I am not happy Trance. This arrogant man thinks he is so very important and acts almost like royalty or a celebrity. For God's sake he is an arguido in a possible murder case and he along with Queen Kate should have never been allowed back from Portugal and the whole truth would have been out by now if they had been re interviewed in Portugal instaed of letting them return home to be protected by McBrown.
