People are afraid of what they do not know, and aliens aren't necessarily their forte. I think some of the fear also has to do with control and power. If there is a new life form, that is possibly smarter, how will the goverment keep its people? How will they control everything if something completely uncalled for is actually out there? I think the government is assuming that if aliens do contact earth somehow, or land on earth, that it will automatically be us vs. them. But I say, wouldn't aliens who have reached/contacted us be peaceful, if the whole species has been alive/ survived long enough (without killing themselves, like we're going do) to evolve and figure out HOW to do so?
And to the person who said other forms of life do not exist, how can you be so ignorant? Look at how large the universe is.. we don't even know if there is only one universe.. look at the possibilities...

Because UFOs are nothing more then some top Secret new Air Plane... Think about it, how long did we have the SR-71 or the Stealth before the general public learned about them... Can you imagine was sort of stuff they have now?! Maybe in 10 or 20 years we'll find out was sort of new planes they are hiding from us.. But until then, I wouldn't believe in UFOs as alien life or from outer space.. Think about it, what is the next closest planet that might support intelligent life? How many thousands and thousands of light years are they from us? Fiction... Science Fiction.. nothing more...

nobody is afraid of a quetion. they are afraid of the answer only. problem with american people is that they think that they are on top of the world. when UFO is answered, they will know that it is not so.

I think they are afraid of the nuts that make these claims. Mental disorders in people who do not know they need help is a dangerous situation.

No we must not.THese were not proven true and no scientific bases.Our planet is the only place suitable for life.There's no extraterrestrial persons or living things reported yet.

well the government is keeping this big secret i think until they figure out a way to make money on it i believe that area 51 exhists i believe aliens have been here and that the government captured them to kill them and study them and keep them from being a threat but if it were to keep them from being a threat they would already have bin laden i think
