please people..my problem is a lil big but please dont neglect it.read the additional part also[add details].i have 2 RES turtles. One is 3 inches long and the other is 4.5 inches long. Both of them suffer from some shell fungal infection. They have white spots on their shells.Ikeep them in a tank of dimensions=4 feet*1 feet*1.5 feet. The tank water is cleaned every 2 weeks along with the filter and the tank is provided with a powerful filter also.I stay in india and ive searched for UVA and UVB lights in many pet shops and aquariums and they havent even heard of them. They say that they provide turtle tanks with normal aquarium lights and it works fine.So they have and auarium light in their tank.Till date, they havent suffered from any disease, soft, shell, etc except white spots.I was told to appy an iodine povoidine solution on their shells and keep them to dry for a few hours and i did that for about 2 months but didnt succeed

I stopped it for a month or so and have again started it coz they dont seem to go.Some one even told me to keep them in sunlight.SoI do,but face a lot of problems doing it.I have a rubber tub of dimension =1.5 feet.I usually give them food in that tub[dont have anything else]and i even keep them in sunlight in that tub.thers a smal rock in between the tub for basking.I also have a rectangular wooden box of dimensions 4 feet*1.5 feet.I keep them in that box for drying up.Since i stay in a small building,i dont have a garden or a terrace and there is even a dog who roams about in my building. So i cannot keep it outdoors.Though i keep it on the roof of the building but the building is of 2 storeys and it would be difficult to carry the tub of water everyday,up and down.Ieven have my school from 7 am to 3pm so i cannot monitor them during this time and my parents go to work so they cannot do it.

Now the prob is the water in the tub gets heated up in 2hrs and if i keep them in sun from 7am to 3pm,the water might just start boiling...so would it be correct to keep them in sun for such a long time, can they bear the heat???also can i keep them in the rectangular box for dis long time without water?will it affect them?also is there anything else i can do to give them sunlight..any other method???remember..no garden or terrace in my house, only the main terrace of the building which is 2 storeys above[i stay on the ground floor]but cannot keep them on the terrace..what if crows or eagles[if any..avent seen them though]pick them up????i prefer keeping them in my window ..hers sufficient sunlight from 10 am to 3pm...please help me people...the situation is getting worse....

LET THEM OUT OF THE WATER! That is your problem, they NEED to DRY off their shell or they will get deises so take the EMPTY ( exepect for the turtles ) And put it up there TWICE a day and make shure they have 24/7 acess to land below a UV lamp.

No, you can't put them outside where the water can heat up. And placing them in a window is useless because UVB cannot penetrate glass. You need a UVB bulb made for reptiles--these can be ordered on line from just about any pet supply store. You have to do a search to find one that will deliver to your part of the country. RES need UVB to make vitamin D3 and metabolize calcium. Without it they will die. And about 12 hours a day is correct. They also need a heat lamp for basking out of the water whenever they want, and the basking temp should be about 95F. Be sure to measure it accurately with a digital probe thermometer.
