where the green grass grows by Tim mcgraw and a lot of George straight songs, john Michael Montgomery has some good ones too. I'm not really into country so that's all i can think of.

There are several that come to mind but if youd look up some of the older music by Marty Robbins you will find all types of cowboy ballards.

I-Tunes has an album called "Cowboy Songs" by various artists which looks good. Also, I always liked the song "A boy named Sue" by Johnny Cash. Tammy Wynette has some good female country songs like "Stand by your Man".

I think you are looking for older country. The guy above has given you the best suggestion with Marty Robbins. I also like alot of Willie Nelson.
