BMI is worse than useless as an indicator of your health and fitness. It is an archaic system that is flawed in a number of ways.
1) The "research" - such as it is - upon which it is based was focused entirely on Londoners in Victorian England (i.e. white Europeans who were malnourished and whose average height (male) was 5'4").
2) The formula is based on squaring your height and weight. Maybe accurate for two dimensional people (cartoon characters), not so great for the 3D types...
3) "Weight" is the effect of gravity upon an object of mass. You would weigh on the moon one sixth of the amount you weigh on Earth. You would be just as fat/thin.
4) BMI does not recognise the constituent parts of total weight - the human animal is made up of bone, water, muscle, fat, organs, minerals, hair.... If your constituent parts tend to be a bit bigger or smaller than average, you're going to have a different from average mass.
5) The further from average height you are, the more inacurate it is.
6) BMI does not adjust for different ethnicities. Clearly - even to a layperson - the Chinese and Samoans are of extremely different shape!!!
7) According to BMI, Lawrence Dalaglio, Lennox Lewis and Shaquille O'Neil are obese. Please can I not be the one to tell them?
Basic message - if you're healthy, fit, able to do what you nedd to be able to do on a day to day basis, not suffering from every cold, flu and bug that happens along, don't have osteoporosis, are metabolising your fat soluble vitamins (e.g. vit C) and are happy with your body size and shape, there is no reason to try and fit in with the BMI.
Let's face it, you're much better off being a bit underweight than overweight... If your health is suffering, then it's time to consider why you are so underweight and what you should do about it. If you've always been on the thin side and never had a problem, though, that's just the way nature/God (whichever you prefer) intended you to be.

How do you feel?? How do you look??
If people are telling you you look ill or too thin, then are they right?
How's your health otherwise? Do you eat properly? If yes, then don't stress too much about it - but if your BMI is way low, perhaps you ought to consider talking to your doctor about the best way of dealing with this. There could be other health factors to consider.

i wouldn't worry too much about this,as long as you eat healthy and exercise along with it you can keep your weight down as well as feeling better in yourself, and good for you not being bothered about what others think as you seem very happy in yourself and that's all that matters, we are not meant to be skinny things anyway..lol...well that's just what i think I'm a happy size 12-14 and i love my curves...as its my soul that's the main thing not what i look like but happiness from within makes you a beautiful person on the outside.its all to do with confidence..x

If you're not sure what to do see a doctor, they should be able to give you the advice you need.
