it can blow front fork seals and cause excessive wear to the suspension if overdone, but if you use common sense about what speed you hit them at, it won't hurt a thing. If you are going fast enough to "get air", then you are adding a lot of wear and tear on the bikes suspension. But it is all up to what you want out of your bike, and how long it lasts before needing repairs.

Yes, speed bumps damages your bike suspension if you don't slow down.
It is very much necessary to slow down for a speed bump,so the next time when you come across any of the speed breakers,do slow down, for your safety and your bike's as well !

The sudden shock of hitting the speed bump, puts excessive ware on the steering stem bearings (the same with
hitting pot-holes).
It's the same effect as hitting a piece of steel with a
ball peen hammer.
Each hit is going to start an indent in the steering races.

I think ur bike shocks would take a hammering if u went fast over humps, well large ones anyway, it also depends what kind of bike u have, is it off road or on road. The shocks are different and the whole design of ur bike will be different, for off road and on road.

If you drive like a hoon over them, it certainly will not help your suspension. Drive at a sensible speed will help to keep unnecessary damage from happening to your bike. The big question is "How much do you like your bike"?
