I agree that to some degree it has and it has its own positive and negative points. Would also think that £22.50 is the very minimum you would pay, isn't watching Chelsea something like min £40 per ticket.
Generally your die hard fans will never stop supporting at the ground no matter the cost. They are the backbone of any club but are also the people most at risk from being squeezed of out of the clubs with continual price rises.
There has to become a time when ticket prices level off but that wont happen until we set a limit of foreign players in each team which in turn bring down the high wage bills at all clubs.
You might say this will lessen the amount of money coming into the clubs from sponsors and Sky but at some stage we have to find the right balance between watching great stars and letting the average Joe watch football at affordable prices.

At the top tier (and a couple of those aspirant from the Championship) almost definitely.
At lower levels in the profesional game less so - although doesn't this create the self-perpetuating cycle?
It can be traced back to Alan Sugar voting to give Sky the rights to Division 1 (and thus sell lots of dishes and set-top boxes) back in the 90s and completed the journey from Italia 90 to make football palatable to the middle (& political) classes.

Yep it has, prices have gone riduculously high and footballers wagers are just obscene. I mean like footballers get paid around more then 60k PER WEEK wether they play or not
which is how much a average joe earns in a year so the premier league should put a limit to how high wagers can get etc. anyway if you really are a die-hard fan, just try to go once a week? its good enough

When I started to go to football games there was no segregation, good banter with away supporters, players would sign autographs before and after the game, mingling with the supporters. Yes its changed, the weekly wage bill is monstrous and there will always be a surprise team, Man City this year hopefully, but it is always going to be Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea who will win the trophies, I wonder what would happen if Mr Abramovich decide to pull the plug at Chelsea and decided to go to Hartlepool!!!
Martin O, 60k average yearly salary, please tell my boss this!!

Its think the face of football has completely changed. As well as the things you've mentioned, its now turned into a family day out. In my opinion it should be a place of confrontation and banter which isnt a place for kids under 12. The money is way out of control too but its supply and demand now.

It should be with the prices, but going by the attendances, sales of merchandise, etc,it's not reached that stage, yet. But how long can some people keep up with meeting these costs?
