Presently, how much does the U.S. owe to foreigners? Which countries primarily?

About 25 percent of the $8.5 trillion total is held by foreign governments.
Japan ( $644 billion)
China ($350 billion),
United Kingdom ($239 billion)
oil exporting countries ($100 billion

Edit: we do not know how much of the debt is held by foreign nationals as individuals, but china does not permit its citizens to buy our debt.

I dont know how much it is, but if every country owed us back all the money they literally owe America, we would be out of debt easily.

yeah I think its in the trillions, and mostly to China. Why, I have no idea though because we pay them CRAP for what we pay for the products that are produced over there...you know, deadly toys, etc.

I guess that just goes to show just how much of our products come from China...

Somewhere in the rane of $10 trillion last time I checked. Almost all of it to China.
