gel nails work, but the problem with them is that they don't really make them harder or stronger, it's kinda like a teflon coating and they tend ot peel off really easily. i reccomend Opi Nail Envy, the originaly one. they have many different kinds but the original is what your will more than likely need, it strengthens and helps them grow. what you might also look into is finding somewhere that does the backscrathers extreme nails. they are strong, very very strong and unlike the usual artificial nails, there is no grinding, just a little bit of buffing to roughing up the surface of the nail so the product can adhere, but i do think nail envy should be yuor first try, it's cheap and a little goes a long way, if you've already tried it, then try the backscrathers thing, but as for gel nails babe, they are gonna coat and protect from breakage, but they aren't really that strong.

I have very thin nails too. They're sort of pliable but tear easily. I find that the "nail strengtheners" only make my nails worse.
The best way to get my nails to grow out is by moisturizing them then leaving them alone. The moisture makes the nail less brittle at a microscopic which helps prevent tearing. I also find that putting nail polish on or filing them just makes them weaker, that's why I ignore them and let nature do its thing.

When I had the very best nails I would hand wash my dishes. I used the very hottest water out of the hot water heater. I used Playtex closves. And slathered my hands with moisturizers. I put baby powder in them after use... but I think the hot temp of the water and the moisturizers really helped my nails be stronger/.
