Although political ideologies from both ends of the spectrum have been mocked on The Simpsons, I'd say that the show tends to lean more to the left. Examples:

One of the chalkboard gags right before the 2000 election said "I will not use subliminAL messaGOREs".

They took a huge and well-deserved shot at FOX news last season (a damn funny episode, especially considering the fact that it was from season 18). Here's a clip: http://www.crooksandliars.com/Media/Play/17548/2/Simpsons-FOXNews.mov/

Another dig at FOX news (pay attention to the ticker at the bottom): http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video/49281/

This is Springfield's Republican Party headquarters: http://supak.com/simpsons/images/wallpaper/Republican-Party-Headquarters.jpg

The two most evil characters on the show, Mr. Burns and Sideshow Bob, are both Republicans (so is Dracula).

There are probably more examples that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Liberal. You should watch the movie, if you haven't. It's pretty obvious there.

left, not that that's important. The tone used to be "funny," and now it's "not funny."
