There are so many sites that will let you have a www.com website and I don't even know where to begin! I've heard good things about godaddy.com, but I took one look at the website, and I hate dealing with too much information. Is all the hype for real? I know i'll have to pay for whatever I choose, but it's cool because this is a serious thing and i've already figured out the domain name I want isn't taken or registered yet.. but it wouldn't be because it's my name. I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money. Any suggestions? Serious people please. There's too many immature little kids out there who get off on acting like smartasses and there's too many people out there who think they know what they're talking about and do it in a rude way. Thanks! :)

Please keep in mind there there's domain name, then there's hosting. Domain name is www.whatever.com thingie, and hosting is where your website actually lives. They usually go together, but they can be completely separate, and you need both for your website to go "live".
Fortunately Godaddy is both a domain registrar (i.e. they can do domain names) and a web host. So they can do both for you. There's also doteasy, 1on1, hostmonster, and bazillion other places that can do the same.
Don't worry about the hype, but decide what you want to do with it first. You could register a domain and just "park" it without giving it any content (as I said before, content and name are separate processes) until you're ready.
I've seen hosting for free if you register for 2 to 5 years, or 99 a year for hosting and free domain reg, or bazillion other combinations. As you're just starting, you probably don't need extras like lots of bandwidth, dedicated server, shopping cart, or stuff like that. Look around, and shop around.

You will have to pay for a domain name, .COMs are usually the cheapest, the trick is if you need your country in the name then add the country to the name not the extension e.g. "something-uk.com"
You can get Hosting for "free". The support will not be great, and they usually make the money on an expensive support phone line, or they insist on automatically loading loads of adverts with your site.
If you don't like this option, there is hosting to be found at a reasonable cost, just shop around.
You can go to a web-developer/designer/hosting service that will do the lot for you, but you will have to remember there will be an initial charge and a yearly hosting fee involved.
I'd be able to do all this for you, but I'm not free.

I would actually highly recommend godaddy.com. They offer a service called Web Site Tonight that makes it super easy to create your site without knowing how to program. You could do the whole thing for only about $15 - $20 a month so its not even that expensive. Make sure to do some research though before choosing anybody. Make sure that they will allow you to do everything that you want to do. And make sure that someone else out there isn't offering the same service at a lower price. Good luck!

To host your internet site, between the superb hosts would maximum proberly be HostGator or fat Cow. the two are a sturdy selection yet HostGator stands out as the superb in my view while you're counting on registering your area to, then pass with Godaddy, there grant large help and are not to high priced the two.

I have a website. My domain is from GoDaddy.com and my hosting is from hostgator.com, I haven't had ANY problems with either place and my site has been online for about a year now. The pricing was also affordable, in my opinion.
When I built my site, I used the Adobe Suite. - http://adobe.com
Dreamweaver for the coding and Photoshop for the graphics.
Forum software:
vBulletin - http://vbulletin.com
phpBB - http://phpBB.com - FREE
Invision Board - http://www.invisionpower.com
Some may seem expensive, but it doesn't have to be.

Get a software program sold in stores. All that free sh!t wont get you anywhere.
Yet, if you want it really top of the line you should contact a professional. =) Check the phonebook.
