The stock last traded in late October for $0.0001 per share, so it has not been at zero for a long time. Some stocks trade for less than a penny a share for a long time, That is`legal.

If you want to close your position it is possible your broker will buy it from you so you can claim a loss on your income tax. I know before the days of the internet traditional brokers would, but I am not sure about on-line brokers.
