Too many things. One was make up odd story lines for my stuffed animals and dolls. They would do things like commit suicide and sleep in bed naked together. I have no idea what I was thinking.

It seemed that once the weather got warm enough we moved out and lived in those old apple trees out back, every summer, and what was left of the old forest was enchanted and sacred. We had a forest hideout, and played endlessly there. Can't tell you how many times I came home with poison ivy, LOL . My friend's brother found a whole plastic bag full of Playboys in the woods and we sold some of them to the neighborhood kids, for quarters. I think their dad got the rest...

And we always had the lake.

Maybe not odd, but just one hell of a lot of fun.

Well, I was raised by my grandfather, so I got away with a little more than other kids did...honestly, he pretty much let me do my own thing as long as I didn't step too far out of bounds...for example, once I learned how to rollerskate, I did...everywhere. Around the house (which wreaked havoc on the wood floors), in the grocery store...and another weird thing was that I used to drink that kid's cold medicine called Dimetapp. Seriously. I just liked the taste. Never OD'd myself...the only thing it did was make me sleep well.

Hmmm...that could explain a few things...

Oh, no; you're not going to trap me in that one! If I told you half the things I did, you'd hate me forever!!! LOL

Well, there was one incident I can tell you about. When Hurricane Hazel hit (yes, I'm THAT old!), I was in second grade. The teachers let us out early so we could hurry home. I was really scared, because it was windy and started to rain. My sister and her friends wouldn't wait for me, but were running way too fast for me. So instead of trudging home (which was pretty far), I went back to the school, figuring I'd stay there. Of course, the building was locked by that time. So I stood on the steps on the side of the building away from the worst of the rain, and hugged the hand-railing post for dear life, and screamed my little head off. Tree branches were crashing all around me, and I was just sure I was going to be killed.

Eventually, my daddy found me there. Of course he was mad at my making it necessary for him to go out in the storm, but at least I got a ride home in the car.

I used to not know how to keep my mouth shut, and I really didn't care much about making other people feel uncomfortable.

For example, I was have dinner in a fancy restaurant with my family and my neighbors. So anyway, I got out of my chair, climbed into my neighbors lap, and just started eating his salad. Then I let out the loudest burp I think I ever let loose. Of course, at that moment, you could hear silverware hit the plates, people gasping, conversations put on hold, etc...

It was awesome.

I would never watch tv shows, just commercials.

I liked to "dissect" things (more accurately, stab them)... my favorite thing was fish eyes from fishing trips.

I used to make little pretend towns around the stunted patches of grass in my babysitter's yard, not knowing that the grass was dead because the dog had peed there.

I made all of my stuffed animals into an army batallion, which protected the fortress not from monsters or darkness but sirens.

Long before Tony Hawk made extreme skateboarding popular, me and my friends would take long large cardboard boxes and fashion them into "surfboards".

Fusing together surfing and skateboarding skills, we then would go to this area that featured high red clay dirt hills---and from the tops of such, we would use our "boards" to glide down the sides of these hills. For us kids, this was the closest we'd ever get to actual surfing or snow skiing.

Given that helmet gear and knee/elbow pads weren't really manufactured back then as they today are--it's amazing neither of us really got seriously hurt.

I would make mental lists of the people I would save and the people I would let die in a holocast - I'd save the ones I wanted to be with me to start the new world and I'd let die the ones I didn't like. I did that for years starting when I was about 8 (this was in the 60 and 70s, viet nam, the cold war, fear of nuclear war...)

I'd make mental lists of what I would save from a house fire at my home prioritized in order by importance. I started doing that at about 10, right after my families house burned to the ground with all our possessions in it.

I made lots of tiny toys out of oil clay, miniature cats, dogs, people and horses - all about 1/2 inch to 2 inches tall. I'd hang by myself for hours playing with them - I had shoeboxes full...

My friends and I used to play the monster game. One of use would hold a friend captive and be the monster and the others would try to lure the monster away from the captive, but the monster always ended up cheating and standing by the person, allowing no means to escape.

I lived on a small farm... when I was around 8-9 years old, I used to stay out all night in the woods just to see the wilderness teaming with life.
