I had my rubella shot last month (october) and my doctor adviced me to stop trying for a baby for 1 month. I would really like to try for a baby ASAP (preferbably around this month) but some of my friends said that I had to wait for atleast 3months before trying to conceive. Please help, what should I do? Shall I wait for at least 3months before trying to conceive or listen to my doctor advice which is only 1 month?

You need to double check on that. I was told absolutely no getting pregnant for 3 months after I had mine or the baby could be miscarried or have disabilties. Err on the side of caution and wait 3 months!

People are usually overly paranoid about these type of things, and over react. Your doctor would have told you 3 months if it needed to be 3 months. I say go with what the doctor says. Your friends are just worriers (not a bad thing) but the doctor is the one with the degree.

now this is just what i have learned from my professors in nursing school. if your rubella titers are low you need a rubella booster during pregnancy. the first trimester is when the disease would hurt the baby. so i say listen to your doctor 1 month. some women get them as soon as they find out they are pregnant and their titers (immune) is low. good luck!

I asked my doctor today and she definitely said to wait for 3 months. Probably better to be cautious.
Good luck!
