It means that whatever it is that's being referred to is of no consequence, doesn't bother you, doesn't matter to you, it's no big deal, you couldn't care less.
Just like water doesn't penetrate onto the skin of a duck, but simply rolls off its feathers, it's the same idea when it comes to situations.
Whatever the situation is, you have no caring at all about it. Even if someone complains about it to you, you're not a bit interested and just don't care, like water off a duck's back.

Duck feathers are water resistant. When they get out of the water they shake and all the water is flies off. Unlike with a dog that shakes but their fur is still wet.
This phrase is about someone who doesn't let problems or issues bother them. They just shake off their problems like water off a duck.

okay, well... 1st of all, sry cuz i interpret things in depth..
so, water off a duck's back. well first off, ducks have coatings on their felthers so that the water doesn't get through them so that they don't get cold. So water doesn't stick to them or keep them wet. (like our hair would stay wet if it got water on it) so when someone say's "water off a duck's back" it means it was nothing, it was quick and didn't affect you/them, It also means that some people can take anything, and not respond to it.

Stress doesn't roll off me like water off a duck's back but I do try to keep it to the minimum...I have to keep it that way because I have asthma which does get worse if I get stressed out. Every day stresses like the cost of living etc., cannot be avoided but people who cause stress, like so-called friends have been eliminated from my life. I refer to them as "so-called" because they are usually the ones who end up using me & as soon as I say "no" to whatever they want to borrow or have me do for them I don't see them again!!! My stress level today is set on "low" & that's how I intend it to stay!! lol.

Because water "rolls" off a ducks back it means don't let it get to you...let it go.

That water will not stay on a ducks back. He keeps his feathers oiled and it rolls right off.

It means that it's easy to do. Ducks are oily so water slides off of them pretty easily.

Simple, easy. Water doesn't stay there, it glides right off. Kind of like, taking candy from a baby. That woud be a good comparison.
