This is the way I did it:
126miles @ 54 mph takes 2.333 hr (126/54)
If you have only 5 hrs to get there and you already burned up 2.333 hours driving then you only have 2.667 hrs to finish the trip
(5 hrs - 2.3333 hrs = 2.667 hrs)
153miles / 2.667 hrs = 57.368 miles per hour
could round the number if you want
hope it helps

The family has spent [126 miles] / [ 54 miles / 1 hour] = 2 1/3 hours or 2 hours and 20 minutes driving from Duck to Williamsburg. That leaves 2 2/3 hours or 2.67 hours to drive the remaining 153 miles to Washington, DC. Now [153 miles] / [2.67 hours] = 57.3 mph which is the required speed from Williamsburg to Washington , DC in order to get there in 5 hours total driving time.

Distance between Williamsburg and DC is 279 miles. So at 54 miles per hour it would take about 5 hours and 16 minutes if you drove that speed straight through. But, if you want to cut out the 16 minutes then just pick it up and drive 55-56 miles per hour. But, since you did make that stop in Duck, N.C. then you will probably have to go 60 miles an hour to make up the lost time. Come on that should be good enough for anybody.

its 2 and 1/3 hrs from duck to williams and 2 and 2/3 hrs from williams to washington that means
the formula 153 = R x 2 and 2/3
x=57.375mph

John makes $40 5 an hour. to make sure it, do 40 5 divided by using 3 which might supply you 15, Dennis's salary. upload $40 5 (John's salary) to $15 (Dennis's salary) and that should grant you $60, that's what you began with.

56,7 mph..
the time that took them to get from Duck to Williamsburd will be 2.3 h
but the total time should be 5 hours, so they need 5-2.3 = 2.7 hours to get to Washington.
and the spped should be 153/2.7 = 56.7 mph..
