Yes. I had a friend who was bi-polar...on medication (Prozac) she'd appear to calm for weeks or even a month, but then have a large episode...without meds she'd have more frequent but MUCH less dramatic episodes. One of the answers you received said something similar. 2nd & 3rd opinions are a MUST when dealing w/ these medications. She found a cause she became passionate about & it seemed to help tremendously. In her case she began helping a local animal-shelter w/ fund-raising events which also gained visibility to the adoptable pets. Maybe it helped occupy the brain beyond the chemical's influence? I think the key is to be "too busy" with positive goals to even have time entertain negative thoughts...she also earned a restful sleep for the 1st time in years. I'd recommend a similar course of action. Maybe volunteering at the local hospital reading to children or helping a local shelter...being fulfilled is great!!

My husband is a nurse and he would agree with your doctor. Depression is caused, in part, by your body chemistry, and thoughts of ending one's life is common among those who are depressed. My husband researched on the internet and found an article stating that many times lack of iodine can bring on depression. The theory was supported by his clients at his place of employment.
I am now taking one kelp tablet a day ... a good source of iodine, and I have enjoyed some relief. Too much iodine can lead to other health risks, though, so anyone trying it should be cautious. That's why only one pill per day.
Should you care to read my article about depression, you may visit:

I'm glad to know you're receiving professional help! I do hope there is something here that helps you as well.
Best Wishes!

Absolutely. Those kinds of thoughts are very often a result of something going on biologically, unless something has otherwise happened to cause those thoughts, like death of someone close. When it happens for no reason, it's biological/chemical. And usually, it'll eventually go away and the person will feel better again. You just have to tell yourself that it's only your chemicals talking, and that it's temporary, whereas death is permanent.

Yes. absolutely. Depression is a very serious and dangerous problem and thats exactly what that is, and it can happen at any time to anyone, nothing tragic has to happen, don't believe that at all. It is just when a chemical in your brain is low and your not "balanced". And the anti depressants do help, believe me, I know.

Everything we think and feel is underlied by some sort of chemical in the brain.
But it's pretty unsatisfying to relegate everything to chemicals and wiring, isn't it?
Just remember, selling chemicals that alter those chemicals is what makes doctors their money.

I think it could be chemicals and repressed things that happened to you. You need a higher power to help you get through it. Suicide is also the Devil's work and not God's. God wants you to live and prosper, so don't choose to die-Life is a gift. Love yourself enough to see that. Do you love yourself?? You probably don't. If you did, then you would fight these feelings. No one can help you but YOU. Choose life, when you can do nothing else or help no one else in this world then you will naturally die-when your appointed time comes. Give of yourself and help others and you'll see how precious you are. Love yourself.

I think it's more mental conditioning than chemicals, but the two are linked. try to will yourself to think positively. I know, what a joke right, but it's worth a shot

If you are on any drugs I would suggest you get off them as the drugs have driven people to kill themselves and anyone who has gone into schools and started killings spree have all been on these drugs prescribed by a doctor.
