what do you mean? It could mean a difference in gender (the genetilia usually being the defining factor unless some birth abnormality occurs) or it could mean true intercourse or it could mean anything from phone, oral, mental, etc. sex. The word is somewhat ambigious but usually we can figure out what it means from context clues.

It is very sad how many of you are saying sex is love. Poor souls.
sex is sex and has NOTHING to do with love except in your emotions. All mammals have sex. Not many are capable of an emotion as complex as love.
