Ok, I am 16 now, but when I was 14 I was always made fun of on the bus by juniors and seniors in the back. One day I bumped into one who was 17 in 9th grade who would make mean comments. I said wow to him, because I did not think I did, and it was a dark, winter morning. I sat, he got up and grabbed me. I open palm struck him in the nose. He got up and I did it again. Then minutes after or so he attacked me while I was still sitting and bloodied my nose. What do you all think of this situation? How can I not worry about it and say that I was the braver person or did the right thing? Just need some info thanks

I later told them how I felt about it and all, first in an assertive tone then in an aggressive tone, he threatens not to tell and gets put out of school.

There is a sentence in the play "Julius Ceaser". "The coward dies many times, the valiant but once". Which shall it be?

You had every right to defend yourself and you took it. Self defense doesn't always mean, however, that you walk away unscathed; the defender sometimes feels pain and/or bleeds too. In THAT case: sounds like the aggressor came out of it feeling and looking worse.

Pain and injury has a way of teaching bullies to back off when they know their target can bring it on them when provoked. When word gets out you can and will defend yourself successfully....it increases the chance other potential aggressors will also back away from you.

This is key to self-defense: Learning how to fight so you don't have to fight.

just relax and dont get in the fighting mood again. challenges and accepting them is a part of finding yourself. striking first or second is only one of the options, so try ignoring the constant thinking about it 'cos really if u do u will keep daring yourself to go further. ignore the names and insults and be sure of urself without expecting closure. its always disappointing trying to sort out your differences 'cos people don't see things the way u see things Kia Kaha!

O.K. this incident happened two years ago right? I presume that the bullying has stopped now and yes kids can be mean especially in those huge American schools you have - we don't use school buses in Canada! Or rather B.C. Canada. You did the right thing at the time.

Self defence is a universal right.
You have every right to defend yourself if you think you are being attacked.
It is a personal choice, take the abuse or defend yourself.
