My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Vegas and we hear that both of these hotels are nice. We've been to Vegas before and we liked their location (central strip), but we've never stayed at either. We really like to relax, eat, hang out by the pool and gamble a little. Any suggestions would be great!

I debated staying at the Venetian and the Bellagio myself, and picked the Venetian because:

a) The ambiance cannot be beat
b) It has a vast array of restaurants, from mid-priced to four-star cuisine
c) There is more to do inside the hotel
d) It's the home of Tao, one of the hottest nightclubs in Las Vegas
e) It's new addition, The Palazzo, is opening in December 2007

Though the Bellagio is beautiful, and arguably just as luxurious, I've heard that the staff can be snooty and strict. For example, some guests complain about fraudulent mini-fridge charges on their bills. Apparently, the hotel automatically charges you if you pick up a bag of chips, even if you set it right back.

Either way, both of the hotels are spectacular, so you really can't go wrong. Have fun!

This is a tough question...

I would find it hard to turn down a stay at the Bellagio with a room over looking the fountains. Also, IMO, the Bellagio has a better location on the strip to move from casino to casino.

However, The Venetian has some great suits and has the Shopping Arcade and some great places to eat and also TAO is a fantastic club if thats your thing.

If you like to relax by the Pool and eat. May I also throw Ceasers into the Mix. The pool grounds are out of this world and I also think they have an excellent selection of places to eat..

It really is a 50/50 call. Like one of the other contributors suggest, why not see where you can get the best deal and let that be your decision maker. More $$$'s for the tables that way.

Whatever you decide have a great time!

Like "Poker Legend's" answer, I've also stayed at both before.

The good news is, either way, you can't go wrong!

What gives the Bellagio the edge is the rooms that face lake side. You can tune your TV into the music that the fountains are playing, and watch them from your window. It's an amazing view, with the Paris Eiffel Tower in the background. My husband and I pulled our chairs up to the window at night, tuned in the music, opened a bottle of wine, and probably spent 2 hours watching the fountains....so romantic!!! The pool at the B is also great too.....I had no problems with the staff as other people reported.

The Venetian rooms are a little bigger, with a "suite" type atmosphere (living room, etc....)...we had zero view from our hotel room. Yes the restaraunts are a little more reasonable, but the good news is, the V and the B are close enough together to walk. So we would stay at one, and hang out another.

Good luck! You will not be disappointed either way!

if the Venetian is next door to Paris as "Mr. Almost Famous" claims, there is something wrong with the known universe. Venetian rooms are better in my opinion. (but not better than Wynn) Bellagio has never really tripped my trigger. check out Caesars Palace too. I will be in Vegas for the 16th time 12/10-12/17 but the first time off strip at the Wyndham Grand Dessert.

Either one really. If you don't mind paying extra for the best that is. I suggest the Venetian. Centrally located on the strip, next door to Paris and Wynn and across the street from Mirage and TI. They are expanding too. They have an incredible amount of luxurious amenities and something to fit every taste. You really can't go wrong. Check out the websites below.

I love the Venetian. I've stayed there several times and have always received fantastic service. The Venetian has the added advantage that it is, in general, much less expensive than other comparable hotels on the Strip.

I highly recommend Emeril's Delmonico restaurant as well as the restaurant in the Venezia tower (Bouchon?). The Canyon Ranch Spa Club is great too.

If you can afford it, I'd stay at the Venetian. That is by far the best-looking hotel there is, in my opinion. I haven't stayed in either casino before, but been in both before.

If you are a blackjack player, stay away from the Bellagio. They play with continuous decks, unless you play for $100+ a hand

The Bellagio

I like the Venetian better. Don't get me wrong, the Bellagio is very nice too. The only thing I like about the Bellagio better is that it has the fountains, but that's it. Believe me... choose the Venetian.

both are very nice - venetian has much better dining choices as well as clubs and a whole new tower opening next month with more shops and restaurants. bellagio is a bit more "high class" in that it tends to be more upscale and private -- the pool is much nicer and relaxing than venetians; which is small and has a "club pool" tao beach.
