Not all emails like this are scams - did you leave your resume on an online site? Do you have a Facebook or Myspace site, and on it have your resume?
Many companies do in fact recruit by email. When in doubt, use google: type in "Scam" and "Company Name", and you should find it pretty quick.

If you got a letter offering you a job you didn't interview for, especially at an unreasonably high salary, it's a scam. Reply, and there will suddenly be all sorts of fees you are required to pay.

if you didn't apply for it, it is false.
if it wants you to send money, it is false.
if you can't recall applying, it is false.
and if it has anything to do with Nigeria, be advised that only Nigerian nationals may legally work there under normal circumstances.
