Most Chinese restaurants will prepare food without MSG in it upon request. MSG is the only reason to avoid Chinese food.

I hope chinese food is safe. I'm 21 weeks pregnant and have ate lots of chinese food. I do know to stay away from any kind of uncooked fish and msg. But other than that it should be safe. Lots of chinese women eat chinese food and have healthy pregnancies. If you are still unsure ask your doctor what things are unhealthy for you to eat right now.

i dont think that it is true anymore, it may have been true in the past. but chinese food can be very good during pregnancy they have a wide variety of fruit veggies meat and carbs which is good for baby. just stay away from spicy dishes unless you know you can handle it some women are more sensitive to spicy food during pregnancy, and try not to eat too much seafood.

It's fine...just follow the same rule of thumb you would follow when choosing any foods to eat during your pregnancy...
low salt content
freshly cooked (so be careful buying pre-made from takeaway shops)
no raw egg
and one extra thing especially relevant to chinese is MSG

I have never heard that it was bad, but I know for a fact that I had hot and sour soup the night that I went into labor. Try to stay away from spicy foods. The other answer about MSG would be true too, I think, but in general, try to eat healthy, non-spicy, non-greasy foods. Best of luck to you!

lol, what about Chinese people then..xDD
I'm pretty sure Chinese foods are fine...but on the safe side...i will not eat sushi.
When my mom was pregnant she ate lots of seafoods especially crabs, lobsters and etc., and i ended up looking like one when i came out....i got the long limbs and spots and everything. I'm fine now, it was just in my baby stage. And i ended up having an allergy on those stuff she ate....havent eaten crab, shrimp, or lobsters in years....
bottom line, its okay but dont eat too much I guess.

No, it's fine for you and the baby. I doubt you could even find a Chinese restaurant that serves food with MSG in it nowadays if you tried.

I had Chinese for lunch today: no problem. Just make sure it's served, hot approximately 66 degrees Celsius, and it's been prepared well. If in doubt, don't until you consult your doctor, midwife or dietitian.
