please help me!!!
okay, i've been reading that the Greeks started using mythology as a way of explaining natural things that they didn't understand.
i was wondering what natural things they didnt understand, and a myth that they made that goes with it to help explain it or say how it came to be.
i hope you get what i mean!
for example, if they didn't understand the stars and they created a myth to go with it.
thanks.
i appreciate it. :)

They didn't understand how fire came to be, so they created a story about how fire was originally only for the gods, but one god came down, Promethius, was angry at Zeus one day and shared his fire with humans and taught them how to use it. This is how the Greeks once thought fire had come to be on Earth.

Another story the Greeks used to explain human behavior and curiosity was the story of Pandora's Box. To learn more about this story, visit http://gogreece.about.com/od/mythology/a/mythopandora.htm

Well, they didn't understand thunderstorms, so they made up a god who threw lightening bolts. They didn't understand seasons, so they made up a goddess who kept the world fertile and when her daughter (Persephone) was kidnapped, she went into mourning for 6 months of the year, which is why we have winter. They thought the Sun revolved around the Earth, so they made up a god who drove his fiery chariot across the sky... That's just a few examples -- hope it is what you are looking for.
