Easier said than done, hunnybunz...
Expression of anger has unappreciated therapeutic qualities. I prefer expressing it rather than suppressing it. Suppression of an extreme emotion may have severe long-term effects. I look at it as frequent blowing of small amounts of steam in order to eventually avoid having to explode like a pressure cooker.
I still believe that the first reaction is usually the correct one.
It's easier to view anger much like pain... it's just an indication that something else is wrong. Besides, I never want people to smile at me when they really are angry deep inside.
But remember what Lincoln said... "never ever forget what a person is saying when he/she is angry".

That's true. But sometimes anger is also a good way of releasing your feelings. Having your feelings kept inside isn't healthy.
What works for me is getting angry and letting the other person know what's bugging me rather than keeping silent about it. Coz after I let out my anger, I'm okay already. I don't stay mad for long...
But I do understand what you're saying. We should also learn how to control our temper. To not get angry at all times; if and when we do get angry, to know how to express our anger in the correct way.

Sometimes I can't help being angry. Comes with age. Better to let out the rage within rather than keep it bottled up inside. Not good for the heart. At least, after you're done, you can regain some inner peace and go on with your life.

I seldom get angry because I am very tolerant - I give a fair amount (actually a lot) of latitude to people.
But when my space is threatened I am going to defend my position to the end - that's rightful anger, a natural reaction. If I don't get angry that means I don't care. However I'm cool after I've said my piece - I'm smiling now.

Anger is a natural reaction to things or circumstances that makes you...well...angry. I think it's not about anger at all but on how one handles himself when confronted with different emotions such as anger that greatly define one's character.

Not angry, but upset. The gardener trimmed down my tree in front of the house that serves as a cover to my bathroom window....

getting angry is normal and may sometimes be out of a person's control, specially if there is a valid reason. but if there is none, then it is abnormal. nobody wants to be angry for sure! =) i myself don't like it when i am angry. people around me don't like it either when i am angry. but sometimes i just can't control it because there are reasons that trigger it.

The Talmud says it so cutely :
"Eat a third and drink a third and leave the remaining third of your stomach empty. Then, whenever you get angry, there will be sufficient room for your rage to get digested..."

Yea, the best way to eliminate an enemy is to make him/her as your friend. Keep smiling then, people and learn the art of patience and who knows you will become a saint one day.
