lol--sounds like you are having a great pregnancy--hope your labor is as easy as what you are having now.

I have heard , but dont know how true this is, that some experience the calm before the storm...so maybe this is your calm. I'd rest while you can so you have a speedy delivery.

Good luck!!!

Im 36 weeks and having contractions off and on, 1cm dialated...and so uncomfortable.. this is #2

When I had my daughter 5 1/2 years ago she came technically 2 weeks early So I was in my 38th week. I had no warning, although I saw my mother the night before my water broke and she said I had "dropped" I didnt notice it though. Anyway I went to bed at 10 and woke up at my normal time of 445 to pee. After I went to the bathroom I sat back down on my bed and all of the sudden I was soaking wet. It took about a minute for me to realize that i had not dreamed me going to the bathroom and I realize what had truely happened. HOWEVER I didnt feel any pains for about an hour or so, I was able to take a shower and I felt 1 contraction in the shower, and then I ate some toast and then the back labor hit me hard and fast. The labor was all in my back, so I have never really felt a true contration that I could time. I know everyone else is different but thats what happened to me. I was in labor for 10 hours total from water breaking to delivery and I only pushed for 10 minutes.

My sister however, had pains that she described like the begining of the stomach flu. and then about a half hour after that her water broke. She did however have a quick labor (only 2 hours total)
Its soo exciting when you are that close! I am 28 weeks now, and I cant stop wondering if baby #2 's labor will be similar or completely different Good Luck!

They will definitely check you at your next appt (you probably should have been checked already) I have a 5 month old and I remember that last month very well. I know its the most annoying thing to hear but (you could go today, you could go in 3 weeks) and you just don't understand why they can't tell when and why its taking so long. But I can tell you now, baby will be here soon and you'll be loving every minute of it!
Talk to your doctor about your labor options! Whether the doc wants to induce early or not. If you are having no pain, best bet is that the doc will let it play out on its own.
Just know that everyone goes through this on their first one!

With my first, I went into labor 4 days early. And it was BAM, my water broke. At my earlier appt. I was 1-2cm dilated. And I had not been having contractions or any warning signs of labor approaching. With my second it was BAM also. No warning just all of a sudden labor started, but that time 11 days early. Now on my 3rd, I have had this drawn out long so going labor that is driving me nuts. I prefer the BAM effect!! And don't stress, that makes labor slower. It will just happens when it happens.

With my son, I never dilated, had a contraction, had back pain besides with the extra weight.. nothing.... Finally, I went for my 40 week app. and my doc asked when I wanted my c-sec. He said I was too small and the baby was too big to fit down into my pelvis. I was having a lot of pelvis pain because he was trying his best to get his head down there, but to no avail. He was also pretty big. I had my c-sec set up after serious disapointment. After he was born, he weighed 9lbs 10 oz. and my doc said it could have killed him if I tried to have him naturally. I was greatful he did my c-sec. I am not trying to scare you when I tell you this. Just telling you my experiences. Wait another week or two and see if you dilate, then ask your doctor about it and if he thinks you will need a c-sec. Good luck!

Good luck, honey. I hope it goes just the way you want it to. I won't tell you to just "wait, wait, wait". But I will tell you that most first time mothers go past their due dates - so it is not uncommon that you are not feeling anything yet. If you want to know if you are dilated at your next appointment, ask them! They should be checking for this. In the meantime, try to do whatever you can to get your mind off of it. Also - try to take walks as often as you can (don't stray too far from home) and enjoy this time "alone" while you have it! :) Good luck with everything!

I am 37 weeks and I am having a lot of pain in my back too. It is not my first though,
Some labor starts in the back, so maybe that is what is happening with you.

I asked my doc at my last apt. to check and I was 1cm dilated, and I haven't had any signs besides the back ache.
I would ask your doc to check you, at least then you'll know what is going on down there..

I know this waiting thing sucks..
I was induced with my last two so I am not sure what to expect with the going into labor on my own thing..

Good luck !!

This won't be a big help I know, but 40 weeks is still considered on time, not late.

By the way, the back pain is most likely the first signs of labor. Hang in there, I'm sure it won't be that much longer.

First of all, calm down. Remember, you may be ready but the baby may not be. Second, walk. Walk. Walk. Make the time go by faster. Work on the baby's room (only what you can do, don't overexert) Do something that will distract you. When you go to your appointment, they will probably check you for dialation. You may be dialating and not even know it. Most of all, RELAX. Get rest. You will need it. The end is in sight but you need to pace yourself

Hello, I was reading some of your other posts and is it possible that they got your due date wrong due to your surgery? I have a friend that was "2" weeks late and then had an extremely small baby...turns out her due date was actually off by the 2 weeks. I know you want your baby, but maybe the dates are off. Just something to think about. :)
