Temperature is a measurement of the average kinetic energy of the molecules in a substance. Heat is a measurement of the total energy (kinetic plus potential) in a substance.

Actually all of the above answers are wrong. Heat is a form of energy (i.e. infrared radiation) and is measured in units of joules, while temperature is a measurement of the average kinetic energy of molecules in a body and is given in units of degrees (Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin).

Temperature is what you feel, heat is a measure of the energy content. You will have to pump much more energy as heat into a bar of aluminum to make it feel the same temperature to your hand as a same size bar of plastic.

heat is what you feel on your skin, temperature is what is measured on your equiptment.
