I know its "community" service and even though its not a big part of the community its still the community...right?

Not exactly, I do not know what state you are in , but In Florida the hours have to be done with a non profit organization. Or with a County or municipalities. You can go to a goodwill store, Red Cross or something like that.

You MIGHT be able to IF it was for ELDERLY PEOPLE ONLY or HANDICAPPED PEOPLE who live alone and cannot do the yard work themselves... BUT you also have to ask the courts who GAVE you community service if that is OK.... AND you MUST ASK THE PEOPLE who's yards you wish to work on. Normally, community service is done in a NURSING HOME or library or on the city streets and parks and not in individual homes.... but you COULD ask... but don't be surprised if they say NO.

The court decides where you will perform your service. It can be a dump or any other local (City, County) facility. You will need a supervisors signature to prove you did the work.

I suppose. In all likelihood, they will have you picking up trash, mowing grass in local parks.
