It doesn't even say that. According to Genesis, the earth came first. Then the stars, moon, and sun after that. Plants were made on the third day, (when there was no sun). Interesting. I guess that shoots down the people who try to compromise and say that God days were millions of years, or whatever. Because plants could not survive without the sun. Oh, silly me. I keep forgetting. People can argue that God can make anything happen.
Anyway, many stars *are* older than the earth, so the only possible conclusion is that Genesis is wrong.

Yes according to science the sun is about 4.6 billion years old and the earth... well it's not as old, because of the simple fact that you need a star in order for objects to form and get caught in an orbit. so if the bible says that the sun and the earth were made at the exact same time, it simply isn't true. However, the bible was written by people and for people who did not have a lot of astronomical knowledge. Just saying, but the bible is proven wrong by science as far as we can see.

Well all I can say is it whatever He said it wasn't correct. He would have been correct if He had said the Universe was Created in less than a millisecond some 14billion years ago. Anyway last time I said the Bible was wrong I was accused by some nutter of violating community guidelines. So I will say no more, but I suggest you read some books on cosmology other than the Old Testament unless you think it was a miracle (of creation). Get real.

The story of creation according to Genesis should not be taken literally. It is not a story based on history and facts but on divine intervention and faith. Consequently, we can't use this as a basis for arguing why the sun/stars is older than the earth.

They were not made by God at the same time. Re-read the scripture. Plus the passage of time is not the same for us.
Also the age of the stars, sun, and planet are not exact.
There are too many variables to say that one is more right than the other. Yet they can all come together if you look at it right and get your facts straight.

God gave the Israelites a set of regulations to stay by making use of to no longer enslave them yet by making use of retaining those commandments they could have genuine freedom from the snare of sin. plenty later the Pharisees extra over 1300 of thier very own rules and crippled the folk spiritually, that's what made Jesus indignant and why He challenged the temple government, and that they hated Him because of the fact of it,and that they began plotting His death. this is the situation that Jesus become to alter and somewhat some 1000's of Jews believed in Him and grew to become His disciples and in doing so got here to work out thart He fairly become the Messiah. of direction God observed the disobediance of guy coming and dealt with it by making use of the flood, endure in innovations we are speaking right here of the grime that become widely practised and indignant God a great deal, yet we are right here at present because of the fact God additionally observed the super form of people who could be saved by making use of Christ,as God isn't constrained by making use of time and area all of creation is an open e book earlier Him.

Science is based on objective observations.
The Bible is a wonderful book of metaphors and poetic parables, written down by uneducated humans trying to interpret God's Word.
They aren't likely to agree on fundamental concepts.
Remember, the Bible was written by people that had no scientific education, and a very limited understanding of the world or the universe.

I believe that the Bible says, 'Then God said, let there be light'
This is what happens when people are blindly led by a religion they actually no very little about.
My understanding is that the words of the Bible are a form of storytelling and were never intended to be taken literally.

I prefer to think of the genesis story of creation as nothing more than a child's fable told to a primitive people who knew nothing about big bangs and astrophysics in order to placate their curiosity about where we all came from.
It conveys the important points (assuming you believe in God) that God is responsible for our existence in some way, as well as responsible for the Earth we know and all life in it, and perhaps for our solar system. It is ambiguous as to whether or not God created all of existence as we know it.

The bible was not meant to be a science textbook (and neither were other holy books). Religion is not meant to tell us where we came from, but rather how to lead a good life.
