No. Cheerios a perfectly safe. They just get mushy anyway. Also they have holes in the center which would help prevent obstructing air flow. That is how lifesavers got their name. Becuase if they were to lodge they would not block air flow! And cheerios are much softer. I have 3 boys & helped raised my niece & I ran an in home daycare when my older son was little & I never saw or heard of a baby choking on a cheerio, no matter how few teeth they had. My youngest ia 15 months now but at that age he had only 4 teeth for what seemed like forever & he was just fine with them.

My son was toothless until 12 months, and he started cheerios at about 10 months too. They are so small they aren't really a choking hazard. If your husband is worried about it, he could always take an infant CPR class, then he would never have to worry again ;)

All babies are different. If she seems to be handling them well then continue but if she chokes then change to something that dissoves... My 11 month old has two teeth and she ate cheerios fine while at grandmas house but we dont buy cheerios so I just give her Graduates Finger Food and she LOVES them. and the basically dissove in her mouth which means less worrying for me!

My daughter started eating them at about 7-8 months, and only got her first two teeth at 9 months. She has never choked on them. They dissolve easily in the mouth and are not large enough to block the airway.

Kids don't need teeth to eat. Think about it: you do the majority of your chewing with your molars, and they don't have molars until well after their first birthdays, most of the time.
Also, plenty of kids have no teeth at all until they're 15 or 16 months old. They just mash stuff with their gums. No problem whatsoever.
Cheerios are a great first food. My kids were eating them at 6 months. They're perfect for perfecting hand-eye coordination and small motor skills, they dissolve in the mouth, and kids think they're pretty tasty.

I give them to my seven month old every day, and she has yet to cut a tooth. Cheerios become soft and mushy so fast that she has no problem with them.

we started giving our daughter them at 9 months and she only had 3 teeth at the time... we had to start giving her something because she refused to eat baby food off of a spoon...
the gerber puffs are a good idea.
we also gave her Kix.. they are a little lighter.
good luck

If she can pick it up and put it in her mouth and chew it, it's fine. The enzyme that digests the carbs in cheerios lives in the mouth. When she puts it in, it immediately starts disintegrating.

My son has been eating them since he was 9 months. If you are worried break them in two pieces.

A safer alternitive is the Gerber Fruit Puffs. They disolve in baby's mouth. They have the veggie puffs too. My son loved the banana abd sweet potato flavors.
