They use the death penalty the way it is supposed to be used. A few appeals and then get on with it. Why spend the money to house the bastards? I would bet that it doesn't cost more to execute someone in Texas than to keep them in prison for life.

I'm close in Okla. and I think they have a tough guy image. I agree that when someone is given the death penalty they should be put to death quickly. This 14 to 16 years on death row is for the birds.

Because while everyone else is keeping people locked up for decades of appeals, Texas put in an express lane to the electric chair.

Look at the Governor's of the state and you will have your answer. However, in Texas if you commit murder in a very bad way, expect to get probation. If you are a drug addict, expect 99 years to life.

The Texas population has millions of people.
The state alone is bigger than most countries.
Texas is a haven for illegal aliens, who are criminals.
I'm glad we have the Death Penalty.
I wish we had Saudi Arabian Style: http://www.amnesty.org/ailib/intcam/saudi/briefing/8.html

Because they are the most backward, ignorant, unjust and brutal of the states.
Look at the nations of the world that still practice capital punishment. What does that say about us that we seem to share their values?
"In 2006, 91 per cent of all known executions took place in China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan and the USA.
Based on public reports available, Amnesty International estimated that at least 1,010 people were executed in China during the year, although the true figures were believed to be much higher. Credible sources suggest that between 7,500 to 8,000 people were executed in 2006. The official statistics remain a state secret, making monitoring and analysis problematic.
Iran executed 177 people, Pakistan 82 and Iraq and Sudan each at least 65. There were 53 executions in 12 states in the USA."
