I am 26 and recently started dating, I don't have much dating experience so maybe it's just my lack of knowledge about men in general -- but why do guys question a girl's virginity? It really gets under my skin when I reveal this to a guy (not just any guy), and then he questions it. Why would a guy respond "are you being honest? or "Seriously!?" This is just an example but that's like me questioning the size of his member, lol... To me it's like he's implying i'm a sl*t or look like one b/c how could I be an virgin. Are these guys just being disrespectful.... Any thoughts on this, would like to hear from males....

htowninsomniac - (ahem) I see you have reading comprehension issues, I would LOOK into that if I were you - first of all I never said that is what all the guys think I was simply asking if my assumptions were CORRECT. you really need to read and maybe you are one of these guys that I'm referring to, that explains alot about you and the things you presume to know about me. Why else would you spit such venom and untruth, unless you are taking my questions to heart? Either way you have nothing productive to add to this adult conversation....take care.

Hi!
I, being a guy, have been guilty of that as well, and I can't really say why... I think that (when I was younger) if a girl told me she was a virgin I would be rather shocked... slightly amazed... maybe impressed. NOT because I wanted to be the first, but simply because many girls have sex at early ages. If a girls told me she wasn't a virgin- I guess it wasn't that big a thing. Either way, just remember that YOU don't have to share that information with anyone unless YOU want to! And it should be with someone you care a lot for and who cares a lot for you! Good luck! Email me if you'd like.

I had a few guys say that to me as well. I was a virgin until 29. I think mainly guys are just surprised that you waited that long. It is so common nowadays for 13 and 14 year olds to be having sex, that finding out a 20-something still hasn't seems foreign. I wouldn't take offense to it, just tell them its the truth. If they think you are lying, then they aren't the type of guy you want to be with anyway.

I guess still being a virgin at 26 nowadays is quite surprising, considering the medias influences, though I am almost 19 and still virgin. I commend you on waiting for so long. And your right it is exactly like asking a guy if he's really that big.

You complain that, when you say you are a virgin, men don't believe you, and you claim this can only be because they must see you as a s-lut. You seem to assume that men have a negative opinion of you. You should re-examine your attitudes and grant your dates the benefit of the doubt, because you are really committing the same offense: You start out with a bad opinion of them ("they must think I'm a s-lut, why elsewould they say that?").
I'm a guy, and if I met a 26 year-old girl who is a virgin, I would probably ask "oh really?" as well. But that just means that I'm surprised that a beautiful, funny girl like that, who must have had plenty a chance to go all the way with someone, hasn't done so. It just means that I expect that guys are falling all over for her.
If your date reacts with "oh really?", don't interpret it as "yeah right, you s-lut", but as "wow... you must have turned many admirers away."
Of course I don't know the men you meet, but from what you have written, it seems you are at least as much at fault as they are. Don't view your date as enemy, view him as someone who wants to be on your team.

First of all, any guy that brought that up needs to hear that he is rude and that you won't bother with returning his calls any longer.
Second, the more women tell men when they are being pigs, the more they will curb their stupidity and what comes out of their mouths.
Educate!

they do not mean it as disrespectful it is just surprising to them. Most (if any) women are not virgins at 26 so that is surprising.
