Can U specificly tell me what's the differentce between a coat and a jacket? I'm looking to buy a nice leather coat online but all I see is leather jackets not that much nice coats. I live in Boston so I need a coat to keep me warm.

a jacket to me is more casual. something you would wear spring through fall when it isn't too cold. Or it would be like a ski jacket for being in the snow.

a coat is more fancy, though it isn't always. for men, it could also be worn over your suit coat if it is really cold out.

if you would like a nice leather coat, I would suggest the kinds called car coats. they are a little bit longer, go great with jeans or slacks.

a coat is usually larger and for cold weather,
a jacket is lighter weight and is worn more often in cool weather than cold
