I have a sister in that same situation. She met daddy warbucks almost six years ago and no ring yet. Every year she holds her breath around the holidays, but nothing. She works, she's not the gold digging type, but he was taken to the bank on a mail order bride from russia without a prenup and he's terrified of that happening again, so he's made the marriage discussion taboo. He likes the way things are, she's learned to deal with it, so they've learned to accept it as it is.

Sounds great, but it's not the reality of it. My sister cries over this to me. Constantly. After their fifth anniversay (not sure of what), she started planning a wedding. Just magazine and ideas, she never ordered anything. He found out about it and flipped out. A big fight ensued, he promised her a bigger committment, she was expecting a wedding, but he offered her a job at his business. The saga continues.

Some people just don't need to be married I guess.

I think its great that he's being honest with you in telling you he doesn't want to marry. If you do want to get married then the obvious answer is you need to move on. He may find someone that he wants to marry eventually but it doesn't sound like it's you. Don't waste your time waiting for him to change his mind. If he goes around having kids with women he doesn't want to commit to then why are you with him anyway?

Then you either get to be a shack up sex toy while they live with one foot out the door and an eye open for something better to come along, or find someone who is willing to commit.Otherwise it aint love!

I have been married before, my husband had not.
If he had not wanted to get married our relationship would have ended. I moved from another state to be with him and I wasn't going to do that without a lifetime committment.
