I have a restaurant and my partner wants to price a bowl of chili @ $ 3.75, I think that's too high. Does anyone know what's an average, fair price?

I used to sell a cup of chili for $1.99, and a bowl for $2.50. And that was less than 5 years ago. But it's the area. Around here in my new city a bowl of chili at $3.75 would be cheap. Watch your costs and change accordingly. Read your competitor's menus to see what the going rate is. If you have great chili and want more people in the door, you can undercut a little because they'll buy other foods.

If it is a good-quality, good size bowl and it's made from scratch, the price is reasonable. I would pay, and have payed more than that for good chili before. Where is your restaurant located? I think that $3.75 for a bowl of chili is very affordable I would definitely try it!

well if you payed $9 for both chilis thats fine. obviously you guys both dont have jobs, your friend demanding $3 or 4 or whatever dollars sounds like a loser. ive been in these selfish bullshit situations before, so just pay that kid the 7 freakin dollars and move on

I believe at the Chili's here, it's somewhere between $6-$8, which includes rice, cheese, and some onions sprinkled on top?

Your pricing policy should factor in restaurant location, cost of ingredients, time it takes to make, profit margin, type of restaurant, and the local competition.

Simply put, what may be expensive for chilli in Texas may seem cheap in New York.

I think that's perfect. The local place down the road from me charges $4 and we think that's a little steep. Then there is a more low key place that charges $3.15.
