Can't believe she was able to leave the hospital, either!
My solution: Raisin bran.... I had two bowls a day for the first two days after my C-section and actually had diarrhea in the hospital. The nurses were amazed, but very happy. Eat a bowl and call the doctor!

After the emergency c-section with my son I was HORRIBLY constipated. PAINFUL!. Bad enough that I had an infection in my incision, but to be constipated on top of that was BAD. Did her doctor give her stool softeners at the hospital. If not she needs to call them and have them call in a prescription or tell her which ones will help.

Stool softeners, prune juice, lots of watery fruits, high fiber cereals and cookies and lots of water. I managed to go number 2 on the 3rd day in the hospital so they let me go home however it took me another 2 weeks to poo again and that's the combo I did for 2 days that finally got me going again.

She should have gotten a script for a stool softener! She can get some over the counter! Sounds like she needs them!

tell her to go to a pharmacy and get "colace". It is a stool softener that works very well. It doesn't make you get the poops but just makes it nice and easy. I took this when i had my second baby and I never had 1 problem.

It took me a week. She needs to take stool softeners everyday and eat only things high in fiber.

as simple as it sounds try activia yogurt. It helped me, also see if the doctor can give her a stool softener/laxitive. If she's breastfeeding make sure it won't affect the milk.

after a c section they usually send you home with stool softeners, if she needs something stronger like a laxitive she should call her doc and tell him the problem

Can't believe they released her when she was having issues. She MUST get to the doctor.
