why do people lie so much about nothing?

to make themselves look better, it makes them feel better.... sometimes they even believe their own lies

Because people are afraid of judgement. They will even lie about the smallest thing to fit in more with society's mold. Because rejection hurts more than the truth?

Because they can - mostly out of habit, too; if someone knows that they can get out of a specific situation and escape through lying, it's very enjoyable. (Learned this in psych. lol)
